Besher Koushaji as part of an international exhibition
At London's Gallery Rosenfeld. The exhibition titled, Painting the Figure, will run from the 24th of November 2020 – 6th of February 2021, will feature works by 8 artists hailing from 8 different countries. Each artist has, for very different reasons, made the figure the major protagonist in their works. Besher Koushaji breaks up our vision of his figures, augmented and sectioned and arranges them amidst an apparently perfect world, which refers to his idyllic memories of a Syria he once knew but which, tragically, no longer stands as such.
The current fascination with figuration has, contemporaneously, led to a return to the artistic debate on both human identity and the drama inherent in the human condition and plight.
Fares Rizk recently opened a show in NYC
On the 3rd of October running till 25th November 2020. The solo exhibition hosts a collection of vibrant paintings depicting moments of his life’s encounters and times. Fares, a Palestinian- American artist, has spent his life studying the works of Picasso and Matisse, this studentship is proven in his bold expressive strokes, stylized figures and robust spaces of the people and places he encounters in his daily life. Fares, captures the poetic effervescence of the beautiful, the contradictory and the subtle moments in a frame of color leaving you wanting to know more.
