Transcendence: Yasmeen Sabri

“Transcendence”

Is an exhibition that uses installations and paintings to reimagine construction material and found objects. 

It is an ode to those who use such materials to build the world only to be immediately excluded from it, and to non-conformists, those cast aside after rejecting social constructs. 

This exhibition aims to reappropriate material, free it of its historic obligations and definitions, allowing it to exist as Art. 

The ignored, avoided, and unseen are put on display. The bi-product is the product, the discarded is the work.  

In “Transcendence” the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. 

These materials come together to create an intimate ephemeral experience, one completed by viewers’ personal histories and interactions.
