Wadi Finan announces; Ashes and Seeds, an exhibition that brings together the works of Nahla Tabbaa, Raya Kassisieh and Yassir Al Omari, whose practices trace the intersections of grief, memory, and resilience through the language of flowers, wildlife, and our local landscape. In a time when violence uproots lives and histories, this exhibition turns to the natural world as both witness and teacher, reflecting on the ways landscapes hold trauma and regeneration side by side.
The works presented here move between symbolism and lived experience, revealing how the smallest forms of life, wildflowers, seeds, trees, echo the needed resilience of today’s world and all that we need to heal.
By drawing parallels between ecological cycles and the cycles of violence and survival, the exhibition confronts the shadow of genocide while insisting on the possibility of growth. Our native trees and wild landscape, with their fragility and resilience, become a shared ground for mourning and imagining futures beyond destruction.
Ashes and Seeds asks: what can we learn from the earth about survival, memory, and the stubborn insistence of life? The exhibition intends to feel like a harrowing elegy for all the loss and destruction that we have experienced with honor and softness, while inviting us to remember that this cycle is not yet complete.
