Alwan (Colors): Silsal at Ruwwad
Bayt Silsal’s journey started in 2006 with the training of a mother from Jabal Al Nadeef on the art of clay making, and with the enrolment of two young boys with disabilities.Today, Bayt Silsal is a meeting place where 16 young adults come daily to make creative works of art. This initiative was launched by Jordanian Rulla Attallah in partnership with Ruwwad , and has since been expanding to involve other established Jordanian artists. Now clay making is only one of the many activities at Bayt Silsal.
In 2011, Ruwwad expanded the space of work by partnering with “ SANA organization for special individuals” Where Mrs. Mona Halawa alongside other friends of “SANA” volunteer their time in sustaining support group for the 15 mothers of the youth at Bayt Silsal.
In 2012, artist Hani Alqam started working with Bayt Silsal to teach the disabled youth drawing and arts, the youth acquired advanced skills throughout 2013 and 2014 and so they now produce regular fine art pieces. Bayt Silsal also has a garden that the youth tend to with love and care.
