Born 19981 in Jerusalem, Amjad Ghannam is a Palestinian artist who gained his breakthrough in 2010 while he was detained in an Israeli political prison, painting a greeting card as a response to “Picasso in Palestine” and sent out to the organizer Khaled Hourani. The card was later printed and circulated widely as part of “Picasso in Palestine” project. His work has been shown in many group exhibitions such as dOCUMENTA 13, Kassel, Germany, 2012; Qalandiya International Biennial - Gestures in Time, Jerusalem, Palestine, 2012; Times Museum, Guangzhou, China, 2013; Qalandya International Biennial – “Manam”, Haifa, Palestine, 2014; The 2nd CAFE Biennial, Cafe Museum, Beijing, China, 2014; Picasso in Contemporary Art, Hamburg, Germany, 2015; and three solo exhibitions, Portrait of Absence, Zawyeh Gallery – Ramallah – Palestine, 2014.
