Faika AlHassan

Born in 1957, Bahraini artist Faika Al Hassan graduated from the University of Baghdad in 1977 with a degree in Economics. Following her academic studies, she pursued extensive training in art and painting through courses in Bahrain and Beirut, shaping a practice informed by regional culture and contemporary artistic expression.

 

Over the course of her career, Al Hassan has participated in numerous exhibitions across the Gulf region, the Middle East, and Egypt, and has been invited to international art manifestations in Australia and Europe. Her work has been exhibited at institutions and galleries including the Bahrain National Museum (2009), the Syrian Museum of Art, Damascus (2008), the Arab World Institute (2006), and Albareh Art Gallery (2005, 2007). Other notable participations include the International Fair for Contemporary Art in Innsbruck, Austria (2009), Let it Be Jewelry in Damascus, Syria (2009), Waqif Art Center Gallery in Doha, Qatar (2008), and the Asila Wall Painting projects in Muharraq, Bahrain and Asila, Morocco (2004).

 

Al Hassan is the recipient of the Bahrain Fine Art Exhibition Award at the Bahrain National Museum (2007) and the Al-Saafa Prize for GCC Fine Art & Lines (2009).
